Gave a discourse on ‘Intellectual Property and Esports’ for the attendees of Avinya 3.0 Conference on “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate”. In this session, I addressed the categories of Intellectual Property prevalent and the steps that need to be undertaken to support the esports ecosystem. Milano Cortina Season! My brother knew that I would be super excited to go for the Coca Cola set up for the Winter Olympics. This time it was ‘The Peak’. Coca Cola has built a long standing culture with the Olympic Games. The Coca Cola Olympic Pins stands as a testament to the goodwill the Cola brand has built through the Olympics. Since the 1988 Calgary Games, athletes, fans and coaches have built a pin trading culture that stands even today. The pins for the 2026 edition were sold out by the time I visited. But holding the torch and getting a customised Coca Cola can was a fun experience! And, of course we didn’t miss the Milano Cauldron! #MilanoCortina #winterolympics #iklaw #sportslaw #gaminglaw

Visit to the Olympic Museum. On 3 February 2025, I decided to travel from Zurich to Lausanne to see the Olympic Museum. I booked a morning train and set off on a 2.5 hour journey. When I reached, I was greeted by the notice: “Museum is closed on Mondays.” A simple Google search beforehand could have saved me the trip, but lesson learnt, not all spontaneous plans work out. Fast forward to 2026, I dragged my mother along on a long trip from Lucerne to Lausanne. This time, we made sure it was not a Monday, and we finally made it inside. We saw remnants from the ancient Olympic Games, letters from Pierre de Coubertin, Olympic torches from different editions of the Games, athlete kits, and a special exhibition on esports. I found myself especially drawn to the torch from the 1972 Munich Olympics because it looked like a lightsaber. (The last four pictures are from the 2025 trip.)
